The Staff

 

Father Rick is a native of Indianapolis and a priest for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis since 1983. He has served in parishes in Indianapolis, Tell City, and Richmond, Indiana. He is the past Rector/Pastor of SS. Peter and Paul Cathedral Parish and Director of Liturgy for the Office of Worship, Archdiocese of Indianapolis. He is currently the pastor of both St. Margaret Mary and St. Patrick parishes in Terre Haute. Father Rick has earned a B.A. in History (St. Meinrad College), an M.A. in Biblical Studies (Mount Mary’s Seminary, Cincinnati) and an M.A. in Liturgy (University of Notre Dame). He has been involved in many civic and church organizations over his 57 years of life. He is one of 7 children born to Martin (d.) and Ellen (91 years old) Ginther. He enjoys pastimes such as reading, music, good food, and rose gardening.

Jerry is a native of Decatur County, Indiana. He is a 1971 graduate of Marian College in Indianapolis with a degree in secondary education and social studies. He has a M. A. Degree in Adult Catholic Community Development from Regis University, Denver, Colorado. His work experience includes 4 years teaching religious studies at Scecina High School in Indianapolis, pastoral associate and youth minister at St. Charles Borromeo in Bloomington, Indiana. From 1994-1998 he served as campus minister at St. Michael's Indian School on the Navajo Reservation at Window Rock, Arizona. In 1998 he returned to Indiana as pastoral associate and youth minister at St. Margaret Mary in Terre Haute. In 2004 he was appointed full time pastoral associate of St. Margaret Mary.

Deacon Mike is a native of Yankton, South Dakota and the eldest of 14 children.  He and his wife Cindy have 4 children and 9 grandchildren.  Mike is employed full-time as an advertisement salesman by The Papers Inc. and Cindy works in the Vigo County Public Defender Office.  Deacon Mike was one of 25 men ordained into the permanent deaconate on June 28th, 2008  by Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein.  He serves the parish communities of St. Margaret Mary and St. Patrick, and at Union Hospital here in Terre Haute.

Donna is a native of Terre Haute and attended St. Ann Grade School, Paul Schulte High School, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College where she earned a B.A. degree in music education. She has taught high school and middle school choir and currently assists her husband, Steve, with the choirs at Terre Haute North Vigo High School. She has been the coordinator of music ministry at St. Margaret Mary parish for the past 16 years. She is the mother of two grown daughters, two married step-sons, and one step-daughter.

Kim Swaner is a native Terre Hautean. She graduated from St. Patrick School and T.H. South. She went on to study English and secondary education at Indiana University. She has also taken courses in English and theology at ISU and St. Mary-of-the-Woods. Prior to serving the community of St. Margaret Mary Kim served at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish for three years. She is presently shared between St. Margaret Mary and St. Patrick parishes. Kim serves on a number of deanery and archdiocesan commissions. When asked what might be her favorite parts of her work, she replied, “All of it! I love being put to use, helping folks encounter Christ and others in new ways.” Sacramental preparation at all ages and Vacation Bible School are among Kim’s specialties. Devotion to Mary and St. Mother Theodore Guerin are very much a part of her personal spirituality. Kim has many hobbies including reading, writing, dancing, crafting, and baking. Kim is married to Jon (December 2000). They are blessed with one daughter, Cami, and one dog, Flash. The family also enjoys traveling together whenever they can.

Charlie grew up in the Corydon area of Southern Indiana. He attended St Michael's Grade School at Bradford. His high school and business college education was in the same area. In 1941 he commenced employment with PSI Energy (now Duke) and in his 42-year career, worked in II different offices throughout the Hoosier state He retired in 1984 as Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service at the Corporate Offices in Plainfield. Charlie has two sons, a daughter, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Imogene, his wife of 54 years died in November, 2005. He has lived in Terre Haute for 38 years and has been a member of St Margaret Mary Parish the entire time. He has been extremely active in community affairs, having served as president of 11 business and community organizations, in addition to numerous other officer positions. He currently holds directorships with SCORE, Trees, Inc, Friends of Historic Allen Chapel, Vigo County Education Foundation, Vigo County Hospital Bonding Authority, is very involved in Kiwanis endeavors and is a member of the Rose Hulman Board of Associates. Charlie has served our parish as volunteer business manager for 18 years. He has been a Eucharist Minister for 30 years and Server for 17 years. In his spare time, he plays golf.

Jeanne is a Terre Haute native, a 1977 graduate of State High School, attended Indiana Business College, is the mother of two grown children, and has been married to her husband, Jeff, since 1983. Her parents, Patrick and Mary Ellen McNabb, are her neighbors and best friends. Jeanne also has two older brothers who live locally and one younger brother who resides in New Jersey with her two youngest nephews, Patrick, IV, and Jeremiah. She also has a nephew and niece that live in Terre Haute and four great-nephews, Christopher, Austin, Kaleb and Joshua. Jeanne loves animals, storms, computers, family, people, and thoroughly enjoys studying the ever-changing Indiana weather patterns. She has been at St. Margaret Mary Church as the parish secretary since December, 2003. She loves the daily challenges of the office, the family atmosphere of this parish, the helpful staff members and how the parishioners have embraced her and her family in welcome!

The oldest of 8 children, Pat is a native of Terre Haute. He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters and three grandchildren. He began working at St. Margaret Mary's in June of 2007. He also works at Meadows Elementary School where 'Mr. Pat' is a local teacher's aide during recess duty. Pat is a Vietnam Veteran and a member of the VFW. He is also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Pat is very blessed with having both parents still living (his father is 89 and his mother is 90) and visits them at their residence in French Lick.
