Donna is a native of Terre Haute and attended St. Ann Grade School, Paul Schulte High School, and St. Mary-of-the-Woods College where she earned a B.A. degree in music education. She has taught high school and middle school choir and previously assisted her husband, Steve a retired teacher, with the choirs at Terre Haute North Vigo High School. She has been the coordinator of music ministry at St. Margaret Mary parish for the past 18 years and she now also serves in this same ministry at St. Patrick parish.  She is the mother of two grown daughters, two married step-sons, and one step-daughter.  She also recently became grandmother.
